About CPS

The growth of the Centre in the last decade has been phenomenal, and the consequent establishment of a centre in Windhoek West near the town shopping centre and close to Polytechnic of Namibia ensures that our students have a spacious and versatile learning environment. Our opening of an additional Centre in the Northern part of Namibia at the end of 2009 will also provide professional learning opportunity to our students based in the Northern regions of our country. 

The Centre for Professional Studies emphasizes a rigorous, well-rounded professional education. CPS students are well prepared for "the next level" and highly prized by employers and officials at other higher learning institutions globally. Because of the practical nature of the professional courses we offer, most of our students are sought for by employers. About 90% of our students and graduates are employed in government and commercial industry. With these courses, employers know our students will be able to calculate, communicate, think on their feet, work in teams and have the skills to be full participants in the industry.

The Courses
 
The Centre for Professional Studies is a Tuition centre for CIMA, ACCA, CFA, LCCI, ACP, CTH, CAT and ICSA internationally recognized courses. We are also an examinations centre for CBE/ACCA, CBA/CIMA, LCCI, ICSA, University of Portsmouth and the Henley Business School at the University of Reading.

The Teaching

Students entering the Centre enjoy every practical incentive to succeed. CPS is staffed by tutors of the highest quality and all students have access to an impressive range of specialist teaching aids including modern computer facilities. Lecturers are chosen not just for their technical skills but also for their ability to impart their knowledge to others. They are entertaining and friendly, and always do their best to ensure that the course is as enjoyable as possible. In such a progressive environment students discover a new interest in learning, and new outlets for their natural potential.

Our Staff

All our tutors/lecturers are professionally qualified. In addition most of them hold masters/degree/diploma qualified and they have relevant experience in their areas of training. We give Tutoring/Lecturing work opportunity preference to our graduates and last stage (s) professional students in courses such as ACCA, CIMA, CFA, ICSA, CIM, CIPS, etc. Our Accountancy, Business and Management staff members have full professional qualifications or Postgraduate Degrees in Accountancy, Business Management, M.Com, MBA and MA. Our administration staff members are bilingual and work with a customer driven focus. They counsel students in a friendly way making them feel wholly at ease.

Locations

Our main centre is strategically and centrally located near the Polytechnic of Namibia and closer to the town of Africa’s cleanest City “Windhoek”. We also have centers in central Oshakati and Swakopmund. These areas are busy with bookshops, designer shops, supermarkets etc. CTPD Centre for Professional Studies is just a minute’s walk from town centres for most taxis and mini buses routes. There are many shops, superstores, restaurants, cafés, pubs and theatres around which creates many part time and full time jobs, thus you can earn while you learn.

Accreditations & International Recognition

CTPD Centre for Professional Studies is recognized by a number of international professional examination bodies which recognize colleges and institutions that provide satisfactory tuition, facilities and student services. These include CIMA, LCCI, ACCA, CTH, ICSA and many other reputable institutions. All the courses offered by CTPD Centre for Professional Studies are fully accredited by the British Accreditation Council. CTPD Centre for Professional Studies does not set its own education curriculum and examinations. Its role is tuition provision to prepare students for Internationally Recognized Examinations which are globally set, administered and marked by carefully selected reputable International Examinations Bodies. The courses are also well known by the Namibia Qualifications Authority. CTPD has lodged an application for accreditation of our centre at the beginning of June 2009. Extensive evaluation took place in December 2009.
